Museum Collection: Royal Canadian Mounted Police on Horseback

The NWMP, the RCMP’S forerunner, started off using horses for police duties when it was formed in 1873. Today’s modern force still use horses for police duties however the force is world famous for it’s “Musical Ride” display team that travels throughout North America performing it’s intricate maneuvers to music. The RCMP are the only non-British unit to stand duty at Horse Guards Palace in London.
